The MRT-Singapore

After spending two weeks in here i am getting a feeling of everything is so artificial. Not the people, but the places , the neighbourhood, the trees ..the plants...its all planned. Chiseled n polished using man's impeccable will to Live Happily...:)...But still its different !!!..One of the biggest attractions is the MRT over here..Its totally different in itself..My first experience with such a perfect design of public transport was simply awsome. Even the Delhi metro i believe is one of the best in its kind.

The maximum delay in getting a MRT will be 3 minutes and the minimum can be somewhere around 2 mins. You are not allowed to eat or drink/smoke in the MRT . And i believe that wats make it the cleanest !!!. Strict security measures with CCTV cameras, sensors and more modest guards, its so nice.We will be given free maps in the station so thst our journey will be hassle free.We can experiment  and explore ourself with different combo of MRT station which can be nearrest and cheaper to our place of stay.In my 2 weeks of stay i actually explored three different MRT stations and i found the third one is economical in terms of money n time.May be thats wat make us different> Explore and Live!!

Uploaded are some pics of MRT station And Trains.

http://www.smrt.com.sg/main/index.asp this is the website for MRT where we can see the maps and many other things which can actually make us live a lot better!!!

Earth Day Worries!!

How many of us know  when the  'Earth Day '  falls on ??... For the folks who don’t know , u can have the guess work done. It falls on April 22 and today is the day. Again, for the one who knows...like me..wat have we done today...for Earth??....made a basketful of paper rockets??...axed many trees??? Littered our rivers and oceans with more plastic and more chemicals...??Left many light bulbs burning at home...when we r still in office??...disposed our aged computer monitor. in the backyards???....burned many liters of 'FOSSIL FUEL’. and the list goes on...!!

While we have given stress on education, the kind of environmentally conscious generation is not yet born. Being educated, most of us are not taught, what harm will it make to the future generation, when we do our part of crime in setting the trees on fire. or hunting down the whales and sharks in the sea. And even when we are aware of the great dangers, we are not ready to change our inborn, inherited, transformed character of the 'beast ' inside. To attack and conquer for our needs and deeds. Manipulation of nature's bounty had been there  with man, right through the genesis. Being it for our survival, need or greed. And with the ever exploding , growing population, we are never going to care for this poor heaven of us-The Earth. I jus remember one of my colleague’s quote. what will you care for while thousands are virtually homeless, thrown to the disposal of hunger deaths, hungry for job-saving a thousand turtles down the ocean, or building a Port? But dear friend, if we don’t act cautiously   now, there wont be any one left behind on the face of earth to trade at  the ports we have built  on.

Make-everyday-earth-day

Words like 'global warming', 'glacier melting',' expanding deserts' , lurk behind the bushels of  grit in  our mind, turning a blind eye towards the call of earth will prove more dangerous than the anticipated . When we dispel forecasts and warnings as scientific gimmick. or maverick aberrations’...something more dangerous is on its course as  the human hegemony continue. we  will be too late to reverse the consequences of man's brutal act. When nature starts taking its toll, we are too week to stop it from happening. Alarming signs are already shown, with rise in sea level and extended summers. And there will not be anyone to live in the drowning cities which are built with man's will and dishonor for nature. (All great business centers whether its NY, LA or Mumbai are dotted along the blue line.)

We need to be more environmentally responsible. I know its inevitable to cut trees in a park in order to make way for a metro rail. but are we bridging the gap some where by planting more saplings and letting them grow and flourish as  a tree? Is it so hard to make space for a  tree to grow? Is it so hard to keep an eye on u'r geyser, iron and all those stuff before u lock u'r doors to office?

Being left to man's ruthless disposal, our earth will be soon another graveyard of civilization. Like other life forms which were made to disappear from earth, our foot prints won’t last so long on the parched fields made of our own guilt and greed. The next time when we  throw a plastic bag outside carelessly, or cut a tree, or leave those light bulbs glowing , remember- “  We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”

The Politics Of Hunger.

Po

Its time in India, to hold up the social trauma of Hunger, yes its poll time. India, on the verge of another democratic exercise, which is again a process of defied values, electing the most inappropriate and making them to rule the masses. Many of the different colors which adorn the flags have already started patronizing the Indian voter. And one of the many hot topics is poverty.

Destitution being unavoidable part of Indian subcontinent is never given the right amount of attention till date. Every general election see a foray of mind boggling offers and promises by politicians, again end up being charades of un kept words and broken pledges. Its just a celebrated moment of Indian history again, but the under nourished, unfed, ill educated lots are still left away from the big process of social uprising. This part of society, which comprise of low wage workers, who find it real hard to get half a square meal a day, the poor slum dogs which adorn the Indian streets, the poverty laden bare lands which hole a lot more people, waiting death due to gradual malnutrition and under nourishment needs to be remembered, alarmed and should be given enormous support for, they make a major part of that Indian diasporas who are left to brothels of darkness and ignorance.

As its time for Indian politicos to offer glittering price tags to the commons necessities, large part of Indian society is still left in the hotbed of hunger deaths. In this part of Indian main land, poverty is a common phenomenon and what make news are only the deaths due to prolonged starvation and in access to proper medical attention. Seen many a times are the flocks, who are made to stand in long queues under the hot sun to exercise the so called 'right of a citizen’, many of their needs are still unattended and still just promises un-kept. Hunger ,poverty, destitution are all topics that surface during election times, and that  wistful grin of politicians’ who have the inherent quality of turning a blind eye to many of the burning needs of India just forget their poll campaigns. At the end, those many lines we hear about 'India Shining’, ‘Common Minimum Programme'...and de 'Aam Admi' turns cacophonic. Hunger is becoming more precarious and the consequences are far fetching, long awaited which can turn the whole act of nation building (if any [;)]) topsy turvy. The future seems grayish with large portion of India driven to acute poverty and destitution.

Its time for responsible, sensible and proper responses to the unending Indian woes .its time for most of us to vote responsibly. And its time for each us to take steps in building this great nation.
